Taylor's HP Experience

Sorry for the late post. Just back from a 3 week vacation to the beach. When I heard about HP Volleyball tryouts I was nervous and excited. The week of the tryouts I was out sick with the flu. I was tired and not feeling like myself. When I showed up in Baltimore the night of tryouts I got pumped up and immediately felt better. I thought it went well for me considering how I felt. I really liked seeing all the girls there like me, TALL! :) When I found out I made it I wanted to go quickly.

I met a girl in Atlanta at Nationals who was also going. We promised to meet up in Colorado. It was still a LONG month away. Finally it was time to go to HP Camp.  Since I got back from Nationals in Atlanta I started counting the days. Not only was I looking forward to the Camp, I couldn't wait to see Colorado.
My Dad went with me and we flew to Denver on July 14th. We stayed in real snazzy hotel in downtown Denver the first night. It was really cool walking around town and the best part was shopping at Forever 21. You see shopping calms my nerves. Anyway, Friday morning the 15th we headed to Colorado Springs and the University of Colorado. FINALLY, I was going to see what all this HP volleyball was all about. When I got to my dorm room I already had a room mate there. She was from Texas and funny and made me feel comfortable. I knew then it was going to be a good week. Boy, was I right. I trained with great coaches and girls from all over the country. I learned a new approach and a new swing. Can not wait to try them out this Fall. We had 3 practice sessions everyday at a gym 1 mile from our dorms. The walk going there was fun. It was down hill and I was rested. After 2 hours of practice it was torture, Tired, uphill and sweaty. Could not get to the shower quick enough. We did that hill up and down 26 times that week. That was 26 miles. I thought this was volleyball not Cross County, Good grief! Did I mention the Colorado heat wave that week. No AC. Yikes! I loved it all....
This was an amazing experience for me. I so want to do it again. I learned that volleyball is going to take lots of work and practice on my part going forward. I was pushed harder them I am use to and learned something about myself. I love this game, so bring on the hard core practices. I am up for the challenge.
